TUI meets DES and DPER on pay equality

The TUI and the INTO met with officials from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and the Department of Education and Skills yesterday (5 July 2016).

Both the TUI and the INTO made strong representations to both departments regarding the pay arrangements for newly qualified teachers and cited the recent agreement in respect of fire-fighters in local government concerning the withdrawal of a universal allowance.

In the context that both TUI and INTO had signed-up to the Lansdowne Road Agreement it was agreed that management would commit to a series of meetings and engagements with the TUI and the INTO to fully scope out the issues involved regarding pay arrangements for newly qualified teachers.

This engagement is to commence this month.

Speaking in Dáil Éireann today (6 July 2016) the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform said officials from his department and the DES agreed with the TUI and the INTO to have engagement later this month to begin to fully scope out the issues involving pay arrangements for newly qualified teachers.
