Annual Congress motion on HPV vaccine - clarification

By TUI , Tuesday, 25th April 2017 | 0 comments

In relation to the HPV vaccine, the text of the motion passed at TUI Congress was as follows: ‘Congress requests the Executive to explore the structures currently in place in relation to the provision of the HPV vaccine in second level schools.’

Contrary to some reports and commentary, in adopting the motion, the union’s Congress did not call into question the vaccine or its effectiveness, nor did it take a view that the vaccine should not be administered or that the vaccine should not be administered in schools.

In accordance with the motion, the issue will be considered by the union’s Executive Committee.
