The new programme for government contains commitments to ensure:

No further worsening of the pupil teacher ratio in the lifetime of the government
-
Some alleviation of the current pupil teacher ratio in the current academic year and in the two subsequent years
- Restoration of funding to certain programmes
-
No introduction of third level fees
We are pleased that negotiations took on board representations made by TUI to both parties and that they have adhered to commitments given to us.
This development is of vital importance to the futures of children all over the country, particularly those in disadvantaged areas, and will be of crucial importance to our aspirations of stimulating economic recovery.
