AVC Scheme

The Additional Voluntary Contributions Scheme allows members to enhance the benefits available under the Superannuation Scheme.  The plan is of particular interest to the following:

(a)   Members who will have less than 40 years service at retirement.

(b)    Members who are job-sharing or have taken a career break.

(c)   Members wishing to improve their spouse's pension.

(d)  Members who opted out of the Spouse's and Children's scheme, but who may now wish to provide increased benefits for dependants.

The plan has two important advantages:

1.   Contributions qualify for tax relief at your highest rate (subject to an overall limit).

2.   Money invested in the plan accumulates free of all income and capital gains tax, and is free of DIRT.
